Hace unos dias lei que Ray Davies estaba pensando en volver a reunir a los Kinks para un nuevo álbum. No es que me entusiasme la idea, no soy muy fan de estas resurrecciones, pero a cuento de esto hoy me he vuelto a acordar de una de sus mejores canciones, Lola, la historia de un ligue entre un travesti y un niñato en un pub del Soho. Y esto en 1970, en pleno swinging London.

Es una canción que he tarareado toda mi vida. La he cantado solo en la ducha o con cualquiera que la conociese en la barra de un bar. Recuerdo una tarde gloriosa en que la cantamos a grito pelado con Lasso en las montañas de Colorado. Y es que la letra no tiene desperdicio, la pongo después del video. Lo mejor del video es la sonrisita que se le escapa a Ray Davies todo el rato.

mmm... si sacan un buen album puede resultar un pre-post-britpop divertido, pero si se cuelgan de la misma historia de hace 30 años malament, a ver, a ver.
